Kota Belud: The Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA) branch here will move its office to a new building to be built on a site at Kampung Rangalau, not far from the town.
Kadamaian assembly man Datuk Herbert Timbon Lagadan, who is also Assistant Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister, said the building plan would be drawn up soon.
“We are thankful to the people of Rangalau for agreeing to provide a piece of land to KDCA to build its own facilities, including an office building there soon.
“The old office which occupies the first floor of a KDCA-owned unit of shop house in town shall be turned into money-making venture for KDCA whereas we operate our activities from our Rangalau Office,” he said after performing the project’s site ground breaking ceremony yesterday.
Timbon, who had been instrumental in acquiring the plot of land for KDCA, also allocated a RM10,000 fund to clear an adjacent plot to make way for new football field for the Kampung Rangalau flok, in appreciation of their good gesture.
He also called on the Dusun villagers in the vicinity to become KDCA members and carry out meaningful activities for the community that would also bring the district KDCA into the limelight and be copied by KDCA in others districts.
Also present were KDCA secretary-general Suman Yasambun, treasurer Joseph Paulus Lantip and John Paujik as well as the district’s KDCA chairman James Muyau and other local community and KDCA leaders.
