KADAZANDUSUNS MUST EQUIP WITH KNOWLEDGE: HUGUAN SIOU

| RANAU: The Kadazandusun community must enhance knowledge to compete with other races.In making the call, Deputy Chief Minister Huguan Siou Datuk Seri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, who is also the President of the Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA), said only through education Kadazandusuns will succeed in this competitive world. “Knowledge is the key and there is still a lot to do to enhance our competitiveness”, he said at the district-level Huguan Siou’s Students Excellence Awards”, here, Friday (17th April 2009).
Education, he said, has paved the way for many Kadazandusuns to achieve success in many fields, including business, as well as many have been appointed to important positions in the Government both at Federal and State level. “It is not impossible that one day a Kadazandusun will be the Country’s Prime Minister”, he said. As such, he urged parents to encourage their children to pursue education to highest level possible. Meanwhile, SMK Mat Salleh was awarded the Huguan Siou Award for Exemplary School for its achievements in both academic and curriculum fields, Murnah Kimas of SMK Mat Salleh and Mirona Edora Jebis (SMK Lohan) were awarded the STPM Excellence Awards and the Pelajar Harapan STPM award for their achievements in the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) Examination. Five Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia students – Mustapha Kamil Husen (SMK Agama), Vaynessa Jaffrey (SMK Mat Salleh), Sofiah Atiqah Rehinin (SMK Agama), Daphne William Apin (SMK Mat Salleh) and Christine Clara Seruit (SMK Timbua) were honoured for their achievements in the examination. Eight Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) students – Ray Jackwel Johny, Mozes Sualim (both SMK Bundu Tuhan), Jabri Juhinin (SMK Kundasang), Norsyafiqah Salimun, Wiviva Lawansa, Suzana Jusimin, Jamail Jimin (all SMK Ranau), Olga Natasha Jebis (SMK Timbua) and Jannah Sariau (SMK Lohan) were also honoured for their achievements.
