30,000 VISITORS EXPECTED AT MALAYSIA OPEN HOUSE FOR TADAU KAAMATAN 2008
About 30,000 visitors are expected at the Malaysia Open House for Tadau Kaamatan (Harvest Festival) 2008, which will be held on May 31. Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Mohd Shafie Apdal said the event would take place at Padang Merdeka, near here, and Yang Dipertua Negeri Sabah Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah would be the guest-of-honour. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is also scheduled to attend. “This time around, we will celebrate the Tadau Kaamatan with a slightly different approach, that is, to involve as many people as possible from the grassroots,” he said. Among the activities lined up for the event are the general merry-making, Kadazandusun cultural performances, traditional house exhibition, the Unduk Ngadau (Harvest Festival Queen) pageant and a colouring contest for children.
